Governors Blanco And Barbour Testify On Katrina Recovery

The state of Louisiana is mourning the death of Kathleen Blanco who was the first woman to ascend to the office of Governor.

Blanco passed away yesterday in a Lafayette area hospice following a 16-month long battle with cancer.

Politicians on both sides of the aisle in Louisiana and across the country have been sending their condolences over social media.

A champion of education, Blanco's one term as governor from 2004 to 2008 will forever be linked with the devastating effects on the state from Hurricane Katrina and the challenges of its aftermath.
