Climate Scientists Warn Of Future Oppressive Heat In Southeast Louisiana

Thermometer Sun 40 Degres. Hot summer day. High Summer temperatures

A new climate change study says Southeast Louisiana is facing a future of triple-digit temperatures every summer.

The new report released yesterday by the nonprofit Union of Concerned Scientists forecasts the region is facing heat indexes of 105 degrees at least three full months a year by 2036.

Currently, New Orleans sees around nine days every year with heat indexes above 100 degrees.

Researchers say the risks of rising temperatures will have a drastic effect on not just public health but also on jobs and the economy.
