Medicaid Might Cost Less Than Expected

Medicaid costs will be around $400 million less than expected in the state for 2019.

The state Department of Health says Medicaid's new system requires recipients to report their income on a quarterly basis, which is resulting in a cost reduction.

Since it used to be reported yearly, the new system forced nearly 30,000 people off the roster for making too much.

However, about $396 million of those dollars are federal money, so the state won't receive it at all.
