Kennedy, Edwards At Odds Over Monitoring Medicaid Participants

Senator John Kennedy wants a new law to ensure Medicaid participants are eligible, but Governor John Bel Edwards says they already have a functioning system in place.

While the two are in agreement that the program is meant only for those who truly need it, they're at odds over how to enforce it.

Kennedy says an auditor came and selected 100 Medicaid recipients at random and 82 of them did not qualify for the program.

He believes auditors should have more authority and is proposing a new bill requiring all states to check federal income tax data before putting people on social programs.
