Baton Rouge Korean War Vet Who Received Purple Heart Dies

A Baton Rouge Korean War veteran who received a Purple Heart is dead at the age of 85.

A family member confirmed that Donald Barriner died yesterday. He received a Purple Heart in 2016 after being wounded by missile fire while fighting in the Korean War back in 1951.

Barriner was also honored with the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

He served as a heavy machine gunner with the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.
