Law enforcement is reporting a rise in the number of homicide and shooting investigations in East Baton Rouge Parish in 2019.
Compared to the overall number at this time last year, the number of homicides is down, but the more than half of all homicides this year have been reported in the last two months.
In 2019, there have been 23 homicides. Police are still investigating 20 of them.
The deadliest month so far was March, with seven homicides.
