Bill Would Ban State NDA's For Sex Assault, Harassment Victims

A bill is moving to the Louisiana Senate that would ban state government's use of non-disclosure agreements in the settlement of sexual assault and sexual harassment cases involving the payout of public funds.

The House gave unanimous support to the measure yesterday that would no longer permit the use of NDA's to keep victims quiet about their settlements.

In recent years, the state has paid out nearly $200,000 to settle high-profile cases involving ex-Secretary of State Tom Schedler and a former governor's aide.
