Audit: Ex-Hospital Foundation Prez Linked To Large Loss Of Funds

The man fired from the fund-raising arm of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge is being linked to the loss of $810,000 due to fraudulent activity.

John Paul Funes was fired last year as OLOL Foundation president after being accused of embezzlement and forgery.

In a report released yesterday, a third-party national audit firm concludes that Funes acted alone in the fraudulent use of foundation funds to pay for such things as gift cards, charter flights and payments to individuals.
