A Baton Rouge man will spend over 17 years behind bars after being sentenced in a federal gun case.

Timothy Courtney was found to have a loaded pistol in 2016 despite being a convicted felon. Trial evidence shows the 45-year-old said he didn't have enough time to stash the gun before officers located it.

He was found guilty in September of 2017 and sentenced this week.
