Future Of Baton Rouge Red-Light Cameras Up In The Air

Increase Use Of CCTV For Traffic Fines Raises ?300 Million

The future operation of red-light cameras in the capital city is up in the air right now after the Metro Council failed Wednesday to approve a renegotiated contract with American Traffic Solutions.

The current agreement expires at the end of the year, but the proposed contract is expected to make its way back before council early in the new year.

The program, which has its critics, produces revenue to supplement the salaries of dozens of police officers.
