The near-certainty of rain Saturday has organizers of Christmas parades in the area saying "Bah, Humbug!"

Kiwanis Club of Denham Springs president Michele Crosby announced Thursday the parade would be cancelled "for the safety and security of our volunteers, participants and spectators".

"This is disappointing for everyone involved," she added. "Forecasts have called for 100% chance of steady, moderate rain during parade hours."

Crosby concluded by saying, "See you next year for 'Christmas on the Bayou'" and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Later that afternoon, the organizers of the Cortana Kiwanis Baton Rouge Christmas Parade also announced the Mayor's office had cancelled Saturday's parade.
