BR-Area Healthcare Professionals Seek To Curb Opioid Problem

Healthcare professionals in the Baton Rouge area are working to address the opioid crisis.

The Advocate reports they've drawn up a nine-point plan geared toward saving lives and met for a summit on the topic yesterday.

Among other things, the document calls for stricter prescribing practices when it comes to the distribution of opioids to patients.

An official with Capital Area Human Services says she believes anti-overdose medications like Narcan should be more readily available to drug users.
