The police chief of French Settlement located in Livingston Parish is facing a new charge of malfeasance in office.

The sheriff's office says 71-year-old Harry Brignac was arrested yesterday and later released after bonding out of jail.

Brignac was charged after allegedly allowing his wife to drive his marked patrol car even though he was aware her license had been suspended following a DWI arrest earlier this year.

The chief was arrested earlier for malfeasance and misdemeanor theft for allegedly using a department-issued fuel card to buy gas for his personal truck.
