Major Teacher Walkout Set For Halloween In Baton Rouge

Several hundred teachers and employees of the East Baton Rouge Parish Schools are making it clear that they are against four tax exemptions being requested by ExxonMobil.

At a meeting held last night at Shiloh Baptist Church those gathered voted 445 to six in favor of a one-day walkout on October 31st.

Instead of heading to classes that day, they plan to use a personal day to stage a protest of the potential multi-million-dollar tax abatement for the energy company at a meeting of the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry.
