A Livingston Parish work release prisoner is dead after being struck in the head while on the job at a facility manufacturing construction materials in Walker.
Sheriff Jason Ard says an investigation thus far has turned up no evidence of foul play but rather an apparent "tragic accident." He says the victim, 50-year-old Ronnie Francois of Livingston, was working to turn his life around through the program.
Francois died at the scene, but other circumstances of what happened were not immediately available.
