Update: Driver Killed, Toddler Injured After Car Slams Into School Bus

An investigation continues after a crash Tuesday yesterday morning in Baton Rouge involving a school bus and another vehicle that left one person dead and a baby hospitalized.

The wreck happened on Airline Highway at McClelland Drive just before 7:30 a.m. when a car slammed into the rear of the stopped bus. Officials say the bus caught fire after impact, the more than 30 children on board making it off safely.

The driver of the car, 33-year-old Dandrew West of Grosse Tete, died at the scene while a three-year-old passenger was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
