Tropics Quieter After Surge of Activity

After a surge of activity in the tropics, things appear to be quieting down a bit.

The National Hurricane Center said outside of Joyce, which continues to hold on as a tropical depression, there were no areas in the Atlantic, Caribbean of Gulf of Mexico where tropical cyclone formation was expected to occur in the next five days.

While Joyce continues to meander in the far Atlantic, forecasters expect wind shear and marginal sea surface temperatures will eventually finish off the system. Joyce should be a post-tropical or remnant low in the next 24-48 hours before dissipating by Friday.

The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season continues until the end of November.
