A man is in custody after Baton Rouge police say he shot his girlfriend in the foot at the warehouse of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board.

The shooting took place Monday afternoon with police charging 40-year-old Claude Elliot with attempted second-degree murder.

He allegedly followed the victim to the warehouse on Choctaw Drive and opened fire on her after she exited her car and ran toward the building.

Elliot was reportedly upset over the couple's recent breakup.
