NOPD: Search For Missing Woman On Lake Treated As Homicide

As the search continues for Sadie Thibodeaux on Lake Pontchartrain Tuesday, New Orleans Police said they are treating the disappearance as a homicide.

3rd District Commander Jeff Walls noted it is the NOPD's standard procedure to treat a missing person investigation as a homicide.

"That's not to say that this is something that's involving foul play, but we are investigating as such," Walls told reporters.

A joint agency effort search continues for Thibodeaux, who was a passenger aboard a sailboat that was spotted Sunday afternoon with no one aboard except dogs. Cell phones were also found.

Another man aboard the boat was rescued from the lake Monday. Walls says Michael Farley has been cooperative with investigators.

Thibodeaux had recently moved from Baton Rouge to New Orleans.
