The third special legislative session on the budget is scheduled to end a week from today and, so far, there's no sign of compromise on how to patch $650 million in red ink.
The House Ways and Means Committee could vote today on as many as eight tax bills, all of them dealing with sales tax increases.
Expiring taxes will put the state in a deep revenue hole come July 1st unless the legislature approves at least a partial renewal of a temporary one-cent sales tax.
