Report: Sea Level Rise Could Impact 41,000 Louisiana Homes

Crews Formally End Clean-up of BP Oil Spill

A just released report by the Union of Concerned Scientists includes an ominous forecast for tens of thousands of homes in Louisiana.

It predicts that by 2045, a heightening of sea levels due to climate change could lead to chronic disruptive flooding for almost 41,000 residences in the Pelican State, impacting close to 100,000 people.

The report says the flooding might happen two dozen times or more a year, and in the case of Terrebonne Parish, nearly one third of the 36,000 homes could be flooded out.
