Council Approves Funds To Investigate Library Construction Woes

An investigation into the problematic construction of a downtown library in Baton Rouge will cost taxpayers thousands of dollars.

Metro Council members have approved a contract exceeding $67,000 that will fund the work of a national engineering consulting firm and possibly lead to the city filing suit.

That firm, Exponent, will investigate to determine whether the construction or the design of the $19 million project led to needed repairs and fears at one point that it might collapse.
