Fiscal Cliff Still Looming For Louisiana Budget

(Baton Rouge, LA)  --  There's still no agreement in the Louisiana House on how to avoid the fiscal cliff the state's budget is headed for this summer.  The chamber voted 38-to-67 last night against House Bill 23 that proposes collecting sales taxes on some previously exempted items and extending a quarter of a penny tax that expires at the end of June.  Hundreds of millions of red-ink dollars lie in wait if state lawmakers don't resolve the shortage before the special session on the budget ends March 7th.
