An elderly couple is safe after escaping a large house fire in Denham Springs.
The fire broke out yesterday evening at a home on Secret Gate Land across from Minton Street, destroying the house. Firefighters were challenged by windy conditions, but were able to keep the fire from spreading to other homes.
The couple's two dogs didn't make it out of the fire.
