The Baton Rouge Police Department is under new leadership today.
A federal court judge yesterday presided over the oath of office for Murphy Paul as he was sworn in as the city's new police chief.
Paul is a former lieutenant colonel with the Louisiana State Police.
He's planning to deploy more officers to high-crime areas in the capital city and purchase dozens of more crime cameras and license plate readers.
