Landry Blames Medicaid Expansion For Opioid Crisis

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is pointing the finger of blame for the state's worsening opioid crisis.

Landry says the expansion of the Medicaid program in the Bayou State has led to a doubling of the number of prescriptions written.  About 440,000 people are enrolled in the program which he says "gives away drugs without the proper protocols in place."

State health officials disagree with Landry's conclusions.
