Cop Ticketed, Suspended In Death Of Pedestrian

Baton Rouge police are making public the punishment one of its officers received for hitting and killing a pedestrian in late June with his unmarked patrol car.

They say Officer Frederick Thornton was cited for speeding and suspended for five days as the result of an internal investigation. However, the district attorney is still looking into the case.

Thornton switched lanes to pass an ambulance and struck and killed 42-year-old Phillip Clark who was crossing the street.
