A judge in West Feliciana Parish is ruling that a former St. Francisville first-grade teacher did not commit a felony when she kicked the behind of a student.

Chanel Lemelle resigned her job at Bains Lower Elementary School after she was arrested in February 2015 for felony cruelty to a juvenile with a not guilty verdict announced this past Friday.

The Advocate reported that a deputy observed surveillance video also showing Lemelle slapping the boy on his head in the lunchroom of the school. Lemelle now teaches in East Baton Rouge Parish.
