A woman who worked as a Louisiana corrections officer is charged with felony theft for allegedly defrauding the state's food stamp program.

Cynthia Jarrell of Baton Rouge is accused of receiving more than $13,000 in benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program over a three-year-period. At the time, she was working as a corrections officer at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in St. Gabriel.

Authorities say she provided false information about her income and family size in order to receive SNAP benefits.
