A family is mourning the death of a twelve-year-old boy who was hit by a vehicle being chased by Baton Rouge police.
Police say the boy was crossing Old Hammond Highway at Gloria Drive Wednesday evening when he was struck by a pickup truck.
The man behind the wheel was part of a police narcotics investigation and had been shot, and he was taken into custody.
Neighbors say the boy's name was Sammy.
