Livingston Residents Criticize Ban On Ground-Level Burial Vaults

A change to how some spend eternity is presenting some more immediate problems in one parish.

A couple months ago, the Livingston Parish Council passed a law banning above-ground burial vaults after bodies were found floating in floodwaters last year.

Parish residents, though, told council members at a meeting Thursday being buried below ground is more expensive and violates their religious beliefs.

The Council promised to review the policy.
