City Officials Defend Abrupt Shut Down Of Sterling Protesters

Protesters who say city officials shut them down too early during a city council meeting may have a point.

During an East Baton Rouge Metro Council meeting last week, whenever a speaker took to the podium to discuss the Alton Sterling shooting, they were removed.

Council leaders say the speakers were removed because they weren't talking about the topics on the agenda, but those speakers say they were treated unfairly.

An expert on council meeting rules seems to agree andsays on at least two occasions speakers were prematurely denied a chance to speak.
