The Walker Police Department took to Facebook Monday to debunk rumors of a serial killer in the area.
"FRIENDS – PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE & DO NOT SPREAD RUMORS: By now, you may have received a social media post from a friend saying that there are several girls missing from the area, that Police believe the cases are related and that Police fear that a “serial killer” is on the loose. THIS IS TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY UNTRUE!" read the post.
"Such inaccurate information can cause widespread concern and even panic. If you receive a social media post like the one described, please THINK before you forward it on," the post went on to say.
The post comes after the discovery of Jennifer Blount's body under a bridge on I-12 in Walker last week. Blount was reported missing late last year.
