4 p.m. Tuesday Cindy Update: Storm Sits In Gulf

The Tuesday 4 p.m. update on Tropical Storm Cindy did not bring much change as the storm sits in the Gulf.

"The primary hazard from Cindy continues to be very heavy rainfall over portions of the central and eastern Gulf Coast, which could cause life-threatening flash flooding in some locations," read the latest discussion from the National Hurricane Center.

While the forecast track eventually has Cindy resuming a northwest turn to make landfall near the Louisiana/Texas border, the NHC urged people not focus on the track, "Given the nature of the circulation and the fact that wind and rain hazards extend well north and east of the center".

A flash flood watch remains in effect through Thursday night and a tropical storm warning is in effect along the coast.
