A bill to place restrictions on permitless carry in certain areas is on its way to the Louisiana House for debate.

A House committee narrowly passed House Bill 627 late last week.

The bill would make it illegal to carry a concealed weapon without a permit within 100 feet of a parade route or demonstration.

The bill had the support of three Republicans on the committee, two of whom are former police.

Louisiana's "permitless" concealed carry law takes effect on the Fourth of July.
