Baton Rouge officials plan to crack down on street parking in the downtown area.

Mayor-President Sharon West Broome says enforcement of downtown street parking will be stepped up as of Monday, April 29.

Baton Rouge Police will issue parking tickets with fines starting at $10.

Free street parking is a maximum of two hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Anybody who needs to park for more than two hours should use one of the parking lots or parking garages downtown, or park for free under the nearby interstates.
