A Baton Rouge man is in custody for a DWI crash that killed a teenage girl in Denham Springs on New Year's Day.

Denham Springs police arrested 31-year-old Shawn Robertson on Wednesday.

Investigators say the accident happened around 1 a.m. on the I-12 feeder at S. Range Ave.

Robertson had a green light when he reportedly ran into a car being driven by 17-year-old Blakeleigh Weems, but police say he was going at least 70 mph in a 45 zone.

He's charged with negligent homicide, reckless operation, DWI, driving with a suspended license, and no seatbelt.
