Gov. Jeff Landry is calling a special legislative session to deal with crime.

He wants state lawmakers to enact stricter laws and stiffer penalties in hopes of cutting down on crime, especially among young people.

Landry wants to undo a justice reform package passed by Gov. John Bel Edwards that modified offender time periods for parole.

Since the Republican governor is working with a GOP majority legislature, Landry may get his wish.

The special legislative session on crime starts next Monday afternoon.
