Federal Hearing Over Louisiana Congressional Map Is Canceled

A federal trial that was scheduled to start next Monday over the newly redrawn Louisiana congressional map is now canceled.

The federal judge overseeing the lawsuit was going to have an evidentiary hearing on Monday to resolve the issue.

The hearing is now unnecessary since state lawmakers submitted the new map with a second majority black district.

Gov. Jeff Landry signed the bill into law last week.

The NAACP will let the court know by next Tuesday if they find the map acceptable.
