State Supreme Court Hears Case Of Breakaway City Of St. George

The Louisiana Supreme Court is hearing the case of whether St. George in Baton Rouge Parish should become its own city.

St. George voters showed up on Tuesday for oral arguments in the State Supreme Courthouse.

On a 2019 ballot, more than half of St. George's voters were in favor of the idea, but Mayor-President Sharon Weston-Broome filed a lawsuit against the incorporation of the city.

The Supreme Court's decision is expected within the next couple of months.
