A suspect is in custody for a shooting that wounded two people outside a Walmart in Gonzales on New Year's Day.

Police responded around 9:30 p.m. on January 1 to reports of gunshots in the store parking lot. Investigators say the shooting resulted from the sale of an object that turned into a robbery attempt.

Police arrested 19-year-old Ja'ky Joshua of Darrow on Wednesday. He's charged with attempted murder and negligent injuring.

The two people who were wounded have since been released from the hospital.
