The East Baton Rouge School Board isn't renewing Superintendent Sito Narcisse's contract.

Board members voted against the renewal in a special session on Thursday night.

The move raises the question of who will lead the region's largest school district.

Before the vote, the board heard comments from the public, who expressed frustration with Narcisse's leadership.

The bus driver sickout at the start of the school year was a major sore point.

The four-year contract would have raised Narcisse's salary to $310,000.
