Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome says the search for a new police chief could start over due to the Brave Cave investigation.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Broome said she is going to take a "hard look at the candidates," and will restart the process to replace outgoing Chief Murphy Paul if she cannot find someone to address the department's needs.

Fifteen of the 23 applicants are current BRPD employees.

The Mayor President said the next chief will be someone with a new vision for the department.
