A man that authorities believed drowned in the Mississippi River last month has been found alive and is facing juvenile rape charges.

Investigators say 41-year-old Melvin Emde faked his death to avoid charges in North Carolina.

According to St. Charles Parish deputies, Emde was reported missing after he allegedly went overboard while kayaking with family members in Hahnville.

Emde was arrested in Georgia after he was reportedly caught driving a motorcycle without a license plate.
