The Baton Rouge Police Department is shutting down its Street Crimes unit following allegations that officers used a warehouse to interrogate suspects.

Mayor Sharon Weston Broome says investigators have uncovered "disturbing evidence" involving a police substation warehouse known as the "Brave Cave."

A lawsuit claims officers took a suspect to the "Brave Cave," turned their body cameras off, then beat him before turning the cameras back on.

The mayor said there is enough evidence to launch a criminal investigation into the unit.
