The Baton Rouge Police Department are receiving a federal grant to help stop impaired driving.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission administers the state's highway safety grant program, which is funded by the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration.

BRPD has only three DWI officers keeping an eye on the roads. The grant will pay for up to 20 more officers to patrol throughout the night.

Law enforcement agencies statewide apply for the federal funding.
