A Louisiana state senator is proposing a bill to restrict the books children and teens can check out from public libraries.

Senator Heather Cloud, a Republican from Ville Platte, says the bill was inspired by Attorney General Jeff Landry's "Protecting Innocence" report on Tuesday.

Cloud's bill calls for libraries to create a system in which parents or guardians will decide whether kids under 18 with a library card can check out sexually explicit material.

Landry says there's no plan to ban or censor books.
