The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is scheduled to close at the end of November for renovations that will take at least six months.

The renovations are part of a $41 million plan to combine the aquarium, butterfly garden, and insectarium under one roof.

The Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium was originally housed in the U.S. Custom House on Canal Street, but shut down in 2020 during the pandemic.

The aquarium is expected to reopen next summer with 17,000 sq. ft. of new exhibits.
