A new report says the Baton Rouge region is one of the state's fastest-recovering areas from the pandemic job losses of the past year.

The Louisiana Economic Forecast says the Capital Area is bouncing back faster than Louisiana as a whole and should be back to pre-pandemic employment levels by next year.

An economist who worked on the forecast says by the end of 2022 nearly 415,000 jobs should be open, up from the previous high of 400,000 in 2015.

The leading hirers will be in the oil and gas industry.
