A Baton Rouge area adult nightclub is set to receive over one-million-dollars in federal COVID-19 relief funding.

Officials said yesterday that the Penthouse Club is getting the money as part of the Shuttered Venue Operations Grant program run by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

According to federal data, the club will get more money than the Manship Theater, Louisiana Symphony Association, Theater Baton Rouge, Playmakers of Baton Rouge, and Opera Louisiane.

Authorities are looking into the grant because under the program's guidelines, eligible venues must not present live performances of a sexual nature.
